[!AltME] Discussion about AltME

[unknown: 9]

I just did some speed tests. Seems about the same. Even though
it should be unrealted, do you still have your message count set
to 100?

Of note, AltME seems to be the same speed, and Qtask should be about
20% faster, and will continue getting faster.

Ah no, I mean, first time connection to AltME worldserver. While
it is running it seems fine.
(and my message limit is 500)

there are times when I see the "Internet Busy" message after the
internet connection has been down or bad. I'm then forced to reconnect
AltME. This seems to me to be avoidable if it could silently reconnect
when the "Internet Busy" message has been there for, perhaps 1 minute.

another thing: When the world is offline, you can't see which worlds
have new posts.
which worlds => which groups

Please send to Feedback on AltME.com, it pumps the task for that.

When is this world supposed to support folders?
I had a little script I was gonna post. Maybe rebol.org instead.

oh, I thought at one point there was discussion about upgrading this
world to support it.

Perhaps, it would have had to include Carl, since this is his world,
not mine. I'm open to it though.

REBOL /View (or AltMe) just crashed on me..when I do the following
on WinXP.

1. My Computer->Properties
2. Advanced tab->Performance

3. Change from "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" to
"Adjust for best performance'

4. Apply..... WinXP 'pops' up a dialog saying /View has crashed and
ask for information to be sent over to MS.

Can someone try the above and see if it duplicates?

NOTE: I have AltMe running when I did that.

View will crash anytime you change major window settings eg. screen
resolution.

I think it might be related to resolution agjustment/change. It is
so long standing bug, that I wonder if it is even in RAMBO. It should
be definitely fixed ...

There's no reason to go into hibernate, too, ... view will crash
on wake ap anyways ...

Aaahh, yes ... on the other hand, so far I haven't been able to make
my laptop go into hibernate mode under linux - it's stalemate I guess
;-)

Same here. I use hibernate every day and it never causes View to
crash on my machine.

I have submitted a feedback to 'AltMe'... and doing a search on RAMBO
to see if there is an entry for this as well.

I experienced View crashes with hibernate on Windows. But it seems
to me if the window is minimized before hibernate it's more stable.

Hibernate on Windows causes unexpected behavior, but no crashes for
me

The View crash when system resolution changes under Windows is well
known bug. I guess Rebol is not properly handling the WM_DISPLAYCHANGE
event of WinOS.

IMO View OS wrapper should be strenghtened in general. It would not
hurt to properly detect two monitors or TV output, if possible. I
can see that MANY apps get it incorrectly, e.g. they simply call
center-screen or such a function, and half of the dialog box is on
one string, the other half is on second one :-)

Is anyone else using 1.2.9 and seeing their Send mode (enter or ctrl+s)
stuck, so you can't change it? I can click the button, but it won't
chagne the setting.

Yes same here Gregg
I got 1.2.9

DOH! It's me. I was clicking the wrong button. It's the pencel, not
the button next to the text.
I only have to change it when I use a new world, so I always forget
that. I think I've mentioned before that it's a poor UI layout for
that.

Ah same here. I thought it was that other one as well.

Partly because the status is so far away from where your context
is.
At least it wasn't just me that was confused. :-) Thanks Paul.
