[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1226] | (good point!) |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1227] | new people with no concept of altme |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1228] | Although that could change by using the same avenues the info for the ML is given to point ot AltME/Rebol3. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1229] | linux users who fill uo their homes with altme cores every time they shutdown ... |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1230] | Please say that again, I think I lost too many letters. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1231x2] | I get a core dump from rebol/altme every time I shut altme down on linux |
so I just leave it up and clean out the cores once in a while
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1233] | Ah. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1234] | chances it are it is carls department not safeworlds |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1235] | yes. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1236x3] | but it is another reason not to forsake the mail list |
or too strongly promote altme on linux... its great! except for the core dump every time you use it
imagine what the /.ers would say
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1239] | I was not implying stop the ML, but there are other ways to handle this. My goal is one source of info, I consider both AltME, Email, QTask, and many other things as simply mediums to diliver info. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1240] | I am very much with you there |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1241] | I want them all compatible. |
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1242] | Tomc, I'm afraid that is a LINUX problem not an RT/SafeWorld problem. The problem with Linux is that its so fragmented it no longer knows its head from its tail. |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1243] | You pick the way you want to interact. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1244x2] | a single source would help fragmentation that has already taken its toll in this small community |
A: Im sure you are correct
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1246] | I'm not trying to justify inconsistancies, just trying to point out that even applications that only run on Linux experience a great degree of inconsistancy between distros... |
[unknown: 9] 22-Feb-2005 [1247] | Exactly, I hate to have information not centralized. It should be intersting to see if we can bring all three of these (to start) together (meaning AltME, Email, QTask). They each do something different. but they should be compatible. And in this context "Email" realliy refers to a relay Server. |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1248] | to be a lowest common denominator it would have to be web based text |
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1249] | Rebol/Services ? ;~> |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1250] | theorericaly :^) |
BrianW 22-Feb-2005 [1251] | odd, I've never yet had a coredump with altme |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1252] | 100% reproducible here |
BrianW 22-Feb-2005 [1253] | just curious: what distro? |
Tomc 22-Feb-2005 [1254] | redhat enterprise 3 workstation something or another, all patches up to date |
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1255] | It could be as simple as a Console setting... |
BrianW 22-Feb-2005 [1256] | weird. I've been on FC2, FC3, and RH7.2 with no issues. Haven't tried RHEL3 yet, though. |
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1257] | Or the way that you are running AltME... |
BrianW 22-Feb-2005 [1258] | .oO(actually, it's a mutant originally based on RH7.2, so I probably shouldn't include that in the list) |
Ammon 22-Feb-2005 [1259] | I experienced a number odd behaviors with AltME and REBOL in general on FC2... |

Geomol 23-Feb-2005 [1263] | s: funs [] ... should be s: func [] ... |

Pekr 23-Feb-2005 [1265] | Is it possible for newcomer who installed Altme today to view older messages? I have one friend who can't see any messages in View group for e.g. |
Geomol 23-Feb-2005 [1266] | The groups should be sent to his computer. You can set the message limit under settings. |
Pekr 23-Feb-2005 [1267] | ah, dot trick worked, thanks ... |
Tomc 24-Feb-2005 [1268x2] | R: I would add to our list of mail-list users, all altme users whenever safeworlds single point of failure archetecure rears it's head |
(such as the last half day)
Pekr 24-Feb-2005 [1270x2] | ah, finally back? What happened? |
uf, pressed Bold button mistakenly ....
Tomc 24-Feb-2005 [1272] | when all worlds are unavailable from everywhere it is because safeworlds is having network/hardware/software problems on the machine that looks the current address of a world |
JaimeVargas 24-Feb-2005 [1273] | Yes the Safeworlds nameserver application was done. The application runs on the same server than their website. |
Tomc 24-Feb-2005 [1274] | even if the world host address is working just fine in the next room |
Pekr 24-Feb-2005 [1275] | no, not apparently, as their website worked here, while Atlme did not? |
