BrianW 31-Dec-2004 [174] | Worse yet, they might catch cold and die. |
Sunanda 31-Dec-2004 [175] | I'd guess the Perl community is several hundred times bigger than the REBOL one. So more likely to include yokels and trolls. One day, maybe the REBOL community will be that unruly :-( |
Ashley 1-Jan-2005 [176] | has anyone heard from Ashley? Back in Melbourne after 3 weeks in NSW. Just doing my yearly Windows reinstall and using http://www.litepc.com/xplite.htmlto really trim things back this time! ;) |
Graham 1-Jan-2005 [177] | interesting tool ... |
Anton 1-Jan-2005 [178] | mmm... is the trial time-limited ? |
ICarii 2-Jan-2005 [179] | rebol needs this sort of press in 2005 - http://216.239.57.104/search?q=cache:zd71TB8RgKgJ:www.bbs.ingedigit.com/TechInfo/rebol/inthenews.html - of late it seems to have disappeared off the radar in most tech circles. |
[unknown: 5] 3-Jan-2005 [180] | Ahh thanks Ammon |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [181] | has anyone used the lame-enc.dll for converting stuff to mp3 ? http://www.fi.muni.cz/~qruzicka/Smid/man.htm.iso-8859-1 |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [182x2] | I think an application I installed could use it as a plugin, just by copying it into the program dir... |
...but you probably mean api calls to it
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [184] | yeah .... |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [185] | then no... :) sorry |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [186] | but there is a command line version as well |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [187x2] | are you having trouble with it ? |
that's probably just a command-line wrapper around the dll ... where to get this command line version ?
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [189] | I just saw it while I was surfing ... |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [190] | LAMEEnc http://www.mp3dev.org/ |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [191] | a gnu thingy ... |
BrianW 3-Jan-2005 [192] | Sweet, I think I got my first hit as a result of a REBOL-related search on Google today :-) |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [193] | Lame ain't an MP3 encoder |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [194] | you're trying to connect this back to Q aren't you? |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [195] | nope. |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [196x3] | That's not what it says at mp3dev.org : "LAME is an LGPL MP3 encoder." |
ok | |
% lame [options] inputfile [outputfile]
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [199x3] | I want a way to generate mp3 voice mail .. this does the mp3 encoding. |
Now to find a way to actually record a wav file from within rebol.
dunno why, but the windows sound recorder seems to record my voice very soft ... can't hear the results audibly.
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [202] | I would like to do that too. |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [203] | Got my microphone all the way up high too. |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [204x3] | There is a 20dB mic boost option in the windows sound options. |
Go into properties and select recording options (I think.) It's such a damn confusing user interface...!
Once microphone is selected to be displayed, then you can click on Advanced to get the 20dB boost.
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [207] | properties? |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [208x4] | Start/Settings/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices |
under Volume/Device Volume, tick "Place Volume Icon in the taskbar"
click OK. Double click on the volume icon in the task bar -> now properties
(Options/properties)
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [212x5] | must be hardware specific .. |
don't see such an option
very odd because when I use skype, people can hear me fine when I use the same setup.
hey, I found a microphone boost option after all! :)
it was on the recording control screen, and there was an advanced button at the bottom middle
BrianW 3-Jan-2005 [217] | Of course, where else would it be? |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [218] | I"d swear that button wasn't there before! :) |
BrianW 3-Jan-2005 [219] | It probably wasn't |
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [220] | :) like I said, it's a difficult interface |
Graham 3-Jan-2005 [221x2] | there's win32 program out there called mpegrec.exe which records straight from mic or line in to mp3 |
uses lame as well for the mp3 encoding.
Anton 3-Jan-2005 [223] | sounds promising. :) |
