But the DB uses the filesystem as well? So in essence, you are skipping
a step

the db you are using very likely uses "cooked" storage, but more
advanced db use raw disk the filesystem knows nothing od and does
not touch

I am just starting to use mysql a little bit and it is a great step
up from plain old flatfiles it is constantly improving a cinch to
administer, but limited for complex relations

Hey, I found a really neat GUI interface in the Picasa photo organizer
program from Google. (http://www.google.com/downloads/) If you download
it or already have it, just click the "Timeline" button near the
top of the screen. I think it would be really neat if someone could
make a REBOL clone of that screen.

It's pretty neat - found pictures I didn't know I had.
Time to delete before the wife sees them!

Subject: [REBOL] Intro to Rebol article for DevX

Hi, i've been asked to write an intro to rebol article for devX,
a task for

which there are any number of people better suited and for which
i wouldn't have

the time anyway. So if anyone is interested in writing this i can
direct the

devx editors to you as i still follow this list well enough to know
who knows,
even if i hardly ever use the language anymore.

just reading Paul Graham's lastest essay : http://www.paulgraham.com/hs.html

and liking this little bit

Now I know a number of people who do great work, and it's the same
with all of them. They have little discipline. They're all terrible
procrastinators and find it almost impossible to make themselves
do anything they're not interested in. One still hasn't sent out
his half of the thank-you notes from his wedding, four years ago.
Another has 26,000 emails in her inbox.

From the article,

--

The great mathematician G. H. Hardy said he didn't like math in high
school either. He only took it up because he was better at it than
the other students.
--

Isn't Carl the same? He took up computing for the same reasons.

Depends on your hotel, but I don't know so I can't tell. Will ask
my wife, she was born here.
I think a youth hostel is cheapest. But you can check on the net
easily, I'd say. My place (with three little kids) is too crowded,
otherwise you could stay here.

You're supposed to send out Thank You notes? Would it be bad to do
it after 16 years? Hmmm, I bet my wife did it right away.

Countdown to global catastrophe

Climate change: report warns point of no return may be reached in

In total, the core of our team has invested something like 80 man
years on this experiment, 18 of which are mine. I think right now
the key lesson is this -- if you're looking for a job with instant
and guaranteed success, this isn't it.

on an experiment to measure the winds on Saturn's moon Titan came
to naught because someone forgot to turn it on

I think, we have too many groups in REBOL3. I start to have problems

how can we self remove ourself from a private group? it always says
"you must be included in the group" ???
Graham
25-Jan-2005
[817x3]
several ways to do this ...
I can only remember one though ..
get someone else to remove you. or log on as guest and do the deed.
Maxim
25-Jan-2005
[820]
so an evil person would remove guest from all private groups ;-)
Graham
25-Jan-2005
[821]
you could add guest back in again.
Maxim
25-Jan-2005
[822x2]
right, since your in the group, in the first place... but that leaves
guest on the list after and is not very nice for truely private groups...
such a thing can go unnoticed by the group's "manager"
I wish there where moderator features in altme... so we could generate
a moderated group and then you are master of that specific group...
including removing posts.
