I vote keep it simple, and based on the feedback of this one, we

I think 32kB all together is good. Remember that some Amiga demos 
were only 4kB with sound and graphics!

if i trade 8 k in resolution for 8k in script-size i double my script-size. 
i do not like that.

If I remember correctly, demo categories were 4k, 64k and mega-demo 
(unlimited size). Maybe for next demo contest we can have  these 
categories but this year I prefer to stick with 32k. I wonder if 
rebcode can be used or not. Although I love rebcode, it's still only 
in alpha, so it seems to be more fair when rebcode is not allowed.

Not sure If anyone mentioned it. THe demoshould run on View 1.3.2 
so NO rebcode...(this is confirmed by Carl)

OK, so 1) Is there a web site set up for the RDC yet? 2) The deadline 
is 31-12/11:59:59. Is it GMT? 3) I hope that 32kB limitaion is final. 
Is that true? 3) Will the submited demos be available publicly before 
deadline? (I vote no). Hm, I've got only 14 days left. I should better 
hurry up ;)

Deadline should be GMT = 0!  As in England.

I agree demos can't be seen before deadline, but  we can post past 
demos.

I'm going to try to work with Carl to buld a clear page (on Rebol.com 
I hope).

I think there are better things we can do with our time.

Gregg's response to the OSX widgets thread on the maling list suggests 
another possibility.

If RT were to create a dashboard, the community could create the 
widgets for this .. either as a weekly or monthly competition.

we would have to have some security guides as to what we can do, 
and for safetely RT could host the accepted widgets.

This would be a much more useful activity that demos that only provide 
eye candy.

Achieve both aims in one go.

I think RDC should be announced on ML as well. But by someone more 
official than me :)

In essence the dashboard could be a custom version of the Rebol Desktop.

It sounds very much to me, or hasn't used Konfabulator etc, that 
is what it is anyway.

There is typo on the Rebol License page (mentioned is one of Carl's 
blogs ....) .... under the section for Rebol IOS , the text says 
Rebol/SDK is not free, rather that Rebol/IOS is not free..

I would vote note.

What means os-specific? Only windows has agg-fonts, which is cool 
for demos. And mac-alpha lacks even timers.

When only windows version of 1.3.2 has font support in AGG, is it 
considered as an OS specific feature? I hope not.

Kru - imo os-specific feature is the one, which will not allow your 
script to run on other platforms without change ...

so - if your script will run under both linux and windows, and just 
windows will look somehow prettier, than it should be tolerated. 
But e.g. OS-X still lacking timers is imo disqulifying OS-X version 
pretty much ...

btw - what is the status of OS-X version? IIRC it was high on priority 
list and it is long time since View was released last time. Is that 
so big problem to not implement timers for OS-X in half a year or 
how long it is since View release? ;-)

I know Reichart posted a comprehensive set of very sensible answers 
to Carl's questions, but the the blog (or elsewhere) hasn't been 
updated to adopt or adapt his suggestions.

Rules are: one script, max 32kB, must run in View 1.3.2. Deadline 
is Dec 31st 11:59:59 GMT . Dunno if AM or PM...?

announced while some people were not aware the contest had even started.


A fair deadline would be one month from the official announcement 
of the competition. That hasn't happened yet and as far as I know, 
it was never Carl's intention to limit entry to REBOL3 participants.

because I'm still just testing it :) so I won't call that "official" 
announcement. Anyway, today is Wednesday, the Q&A day, so we can
