Maarten 6-Feb-2009 [3248] | Am I the only one that sees the pun whenever somebody says "Move it over to BS"? |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3249] | Please move it over to BS, thanks... |
BrianH 6-Feb-2009 [3250] | OK, thanks. No need for further discussion. |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3251] | (please move questions about BS over to BS) |
[unknown: 5] 6-Feb-2009 [3252] | Maarten, I'm the one that created it with that name for a reason that I knew it would end up containing BS. |
Reichart 6-Feb-2009 [3253] | Please move discussions of BS over to BS |
kib2 9-Feb-2009 [3254] | Hi, is there a way to change fonts size (and even fonts) in AltME ? |
Graham 9-Feb-2009 [3255x2] | click on the aA button on the icon bar which is above where you type. |
====================================^^ here if you're using a small font
kib2 9-Feb-2009 [3257] | Graham: thanks, I'm able to see without my glasses now :) |
Janko 10-Feb-2009 [3258] | I still haven't figured out how some of you can make newlines in chat here (except copy/pasting it in)? |
PeterWood 10-Feb-2009 [3259] | Click the pencil icon in the toolbar above the text entry field. |
Janko 10-Feb-2009 [3260x2] | you mean like this .. woow .. help how do I submit now .. :) |
thanks - you will be able to enjoy my comments from now on ... ... in multiline :) (jokin - serriously!)
Reichart 10-Feb-2009 [3262] | Play with all the buttons, as you move your mouse over them, it will reveal in the upper left what they do. |
Tomc 17-Feb-2009 [3263] | Altme just had this alert showing "Server reported error in unknown-request because of: tatus" that is a copy&paste so typos are not mine |
Reichart 17-Feb-2009 [3264] | Hmmm, pleae post to feedback... |
btiffin 20-Feb-2009 [3265] | For nerds that care. http://www.rebol.org/aga-index.rLast I looked, 99917 posts archived. Get busy on [web-public] and you could be the 100 thousandth poster. Any bets on it being a "." ;) |
Graham 20-Feb-2009 [3266] | . |
Vladimir 20-Feb-2009 [3267] | I have a problem with altme on linux... :( Right mouse button no effect, CTRL+C no effect.... Is there a way to copy selected text from message window? I'm on Ubuntu 8.10 |
ManuM 20-Feb-2009 [3268] | Vladimir: CTRL+C works for me ( Kubuntu 8.10 ), but I only can paste ( CTRL+V ) at any area of Altme ( New message area, Your current status area, Search area, ... ). If I want to copy one url to paste at other program, I export messages ( top-right button ) and save to a file ( I think html file is better ). Then I can open the file and copy the url |
Izkata 20-Feb-2009 [3269] | Ubuntu 8.04, from AltME to other apps, it doesn't work with highlight->middle click (what I and probably others are used to in linux), but it does work with highlight->control-c->middle click |
Oldes 20-Feb-2009 [3270x3] | Isn't it dependent on type of terminal you are using? |
sorry..it's Altme gorup..:) i have to sleep a little bit.
I use Altme in Wine under Ubuntu without problems.
Anton 20-Feb-2009 [3273] | I also use AltME in wine, maybe it's because of this copying business. |
Vladimir 21-Feb-2009 [3274] | Will try win altme with wine.. |
MaxV 23-Feb-2009 [3275x2] | Hello every body! I'm new to AltMe and I don't understand how to start a topic, is possible |
? | |
Henrik 23-Feb-2009 [3277] | Hi, MaxV and welcome. Topics don't really exist, but we have groups as you see in the left side of the window. Just browse through each group and select the group most appropriate for your question. If you have a language question, you can select "Core" or "Rebol School" and ask your question there. |
Gregg 23-Feb-2009 [3278] | If you can't find a good group, as if somebody else knows of one. If there isn't a good group, create one by clicking on the Users and Groups icon (the one with two "people" in it). Also be sure to hover over the various buttons and look at the hints for them. The pencil icon is the one most people want to use. :-) |
Ammon 23-Feb-2009 [3279] | Vladimir, I randomly have trouble with copying text from AltME as well. I'm running on Vista and occasionally right clicking will fail. The notification that text has been copied pops up but the clipboard isn't updated with the new text. Usually selecting text and hitting CTRL+C will copy the text but also fails from time to time. |
Graham 24-Feb-2009 [3280] | Seems to happen to me too if there is something already in the clipboard |
Ammon 24-Feb-2009 [3281] | Oddly, copying content to the clipboard from other applications will sometimes fix the problem. Sometimes restarting AltME fixes it, but not always. |
Vladimir 24-Feb-2009 [3282] | I now use windows version with Wine and it works perfectly :) |
MaxV 24-Feb-2009 [3283] | What's the keys combination to carriage return in the message text area? |
Henrik 24-Feb-2009 [3284] | MaxV, click the pencil icon above the text field. That allows you to send multiline... ...messages. :-) |
MaxV 24-Feb-2009 [3285] | GREAT!!! |
PatrickP61 5-Mar-2009 [3286] | Did anyone else experience an AltME outage this afternoon around 3 pm CST or so. I could not get in no matter what I did. If this should re-occur, is there a BBS or something to verify if AltME is down or not? |
Graham 5-Mar-2009 [3287x3] | There is always the mailing list ... |
otherwise, if you're a qtask member ... you can go to the rebol sig there.
Also, the altme.com website has a place to check whether a world is accessible or not.
BrianH 5-Mar-2009 [3290] | I got cut off mid-sentence - probably for the best, as I reconsidered posting that sentence :) |
Pekr 23-Mar-2009 [3291] | Today I got chance to test our theories, that if you want to register another world on the same PC, you have to have prior worlds running. So our current world is running, and I started altme, and tried to register another one, but it apparently gets assigned the same 5400 port once again :-( What should I do to properly register new world to the different port? |
Brock 23-Mar-2009 [3292x2] | Pekr, that is the same process I went through if I recall. Maybe make sure the first world is open in AltME, not just running, then try registering the second world? |
I was running multiple servers on a Win98 machine, so don't know if anyone else has had a different experience on the more recent Win OS's.
Pekr 23-Mar-2009 [3294] | thanks ... will try my next round once my requested world name expires in 10 days :-) |
Gregg 23-Mar-2009 [3295] | I haven't found the magic steps to make this work reliably either. I was able to make it work sometimes by manually starting the worlds, and I though had it working from shortcuts, but then things would stop working. At some point I gave up, and now just host one world per machine. |
Brock 24-Mar-2009 [3296] | Oh, just thought of something, make sure the necessary port range is open on your system/router. Maybe it's the router that is preventing the proper port from being used? |
Pekr 24-Mar-2009 [3297] | Nothing to do with router imo. There is DST nat on our main router. There are two rules, - one for 5400 port, another one (copy) for 5401 port. As I don't know Altme internals, can't say which side decides, what port to register at altme.com. |
