[!AltME] Discussion about AltME
older newer | first last |
amacleod 28-Dec-2009 [4245x2] | So let me get this clear in my head as I have the same problem with losing world names...if I start a world from the altme start console and leave it running it will be fine but if I start it with -s (as I do in a shortcut icon in my 'startup' programs menu (incase of a reboot) I will loose the world in 10 days as it is in server mode and does not pink safeworlds? |
pink > ping | |
Pekr 28-Dec-2009 [4247x2] | exactly ... but as we know, it is not automatic. You MIGHT loose it, if you don't start it at least once in 10 days (imo even in -s mode) |
but if you start it from the panel, it should be OK ....
amacleod 28-Dec-2009 [4249] | Good to know, thanks |
Endo 29-Dec-2009 [4250x2] | is there a way to "mark all messages as read" in a list? |
in AltME I mean. | |
Henrik 29-Dec-2009 [4252x2] | Unfortunately no. It's a much requested feature. |
AltME running like crap right now.
joannak 29-Dec-2009 [4254x2] | Yep.. has been some time today. Busy, doing some update, Busy, losing some posts.. |
Based on messages on Advocacy I would estimate that the problems started at 19:50 (+- 2 minutes) GMT, that´s almost 2 hours ago from the moment I´m writing this.
Henrik 29-Dec-2009 [4256] | We've seen this before. Usually it suddenly stops if Carl reboots the server or if the network reasserts itself. In the meantime we'll have to live with it for the 1-2 days it usually lasts. |
amacleod 29-Dec-2009 [4257x2] | its real bad this time...and a little different than previous slowdowns.. |
less 'internet busy' and more just real slow and no updates of worlds until clicked on.
Henrik 29-Dec-2009 [4259] | It's totally stable here now. |
Graham 29-Dec-2009 [4260] | It's been like this intermittently for the last couple of days ... |
Paul 2-Jan-2010 [4261] | Would be cool if this message window also had a console like feature where I could use it to do some functions like a calculator or other limited functionality. |
Will 3-Jan-2010 [4262] | has there been a silent upgrade to AltMe lately? since a week or two, when opening AltMe, its window will resize fullscreen and no way to resize it, it will keep resizing fullscreen.. OSX10.6.2 AltMe 1.2.17 |
Henrik 3-Jan-2010 [4263] | This is an old bug. Can't remember how to fix it, though... |
Pavel 3-Jan-2010 [4264] | Group !Rebol3 is not visible for me (dissappeared) anybody else? |
Will 3-Jan-2010 [4265x2] | found it.. in prefs/window , change: maxed: true to: maxed: none |
I just deleted the prefs/window and all is well
Oldes 3-Jan-2010 [4267] | Pavel: I see it, but it's empty. |
Will 3-Jan-2010 [4268] | ok, that is a AltMe bug on OSX, when clicking the green button in the window title bar to max the window, prefs/window/maxed get set to true, clicking again won't update that variable. |
Sunanda 3-Jan-2010 [4269] | Pavel -- there's been some difficulties with some groups. Reichart is looking in to it. See [PrivateGroupsDiscussion] for a lot of commentary on the issues. |
Gregg 4-Jan-2010 [4270] | I forgot to post this. Yesterday, I got the following error message when disconnecting from this world: Server reported error in unknown-request because of: Ýtatus Yes, that first char in the last word is what it displayed. |
Graham 4-Jan-2010 [4271] | Seen similar issues before too |
Paul 6-Jan-2010 [4272] | Can someone please create an opportunity group again so I can post an opportunity. |
Graham 6-Jan-2010 [4273] | Done. |
Paul 6-Jan-2010 [4274] | Thanks Graham. |
Pekr 9-Jan-2010 [4275] | AltME updated to 1.2.18 .... you can now eg. set filesize transfer limit. Changelog states, AltME is going to be updated regularly now again. Maybe time to submit the most usefull proposal - add button to "mark everything read" (de-red button :-) |
Graham 9-Jan-2010 [4276x2] | What are the improvements?? |
Just filesize limit?? | |
Pekr 9-Jan-2010 [4278] | http://www.altme.com/new.html |
Graham 9-Jan-2010 [4279] | wow ... over 1.5 years since last update |
Sunanda 9-Jan-2010 [4280] | 1.2.18 works fine from where I am. Let's hope it is a good sign for the future. Petr, we were asked for our top priorities some years ago....Let's hope too, that those requests are still on the work list: http://www.rebol.org/aga-display-posts.r?post=r3wp151x457 |
Pekr 9-Jan-2010 [4281] | Sunanda - thanks for posting the link, I forgot about those! |
Graham 9-Jan-2010 [4282] | Still eats posts |
Graham 15-Jan-2010 [4283x2] | Rebol3 now has its own dedicated server on linode .. but still seems slow :( |
that busy signal appears briefly and then blocks
Maxim 15-Jan-2010 [4285] | its been more responsive for me in genera.... but the world has disconnected a few times since its on the linode server. |
Carl 18-Jan-2010 [4286x2] | Seems a lot more response here (California) too. 16 hops. |
Whoa... this traceroute backbone hostname freaked me out for a sec: 5 ge-6-22.car1.SanFrancisco1.Level3.net (4.53.128.97) 47.905 ms 46.594 ms 47.027 ms (In console font 1 and l look the same.)
Carl 19-Jan-2010 [4288] | AltME updated.... When you send a message, you will see the edit window retain the message until the server has echoed it. |
Pekr 19-Jan-2010 [4289] | now we need the most requested feature - one small button for "Mark everything read" :-) |
Graham 19-Jan-2010 [4290x2] | A welcome update for sure. |
let's type something here and now click on a group .... and this area goes black .. very unusual feature
Pekr 19-Jan-2010 [4292] | mark everything read could be done a bit differently maybe, via a setting. E.g. "Mark as read messages older than (days)" ... defaulting to let's say 3 days ... so that you would be able to see some recent discussions still marked red .... just an idea ... |
Sunanda 19-Jan-2010 [4293] | Graham -- This is what it looks like to me: -- if you press send and a stay in the group you are in: the entry area goes grey until receipt of the message is confirmed; then it returns to your default colours -- if you press send and navigate elsewhere quickly: it stays black until you send again (and stay in the same group) A minor glitch in a new feature. |
Graham 19-Jan-2010 [4294] | Hmm.. rebooting has fixed the issue I was seeing. |
