Such as Linux anti-virus would probably not be hard to port
Graham

[878]
No, you may not have viruses, but you also don't want to send attachments
that do ...

I wonder about your comment - REBOL in the works, Orca (check). What
do you mean by that? Isn't Orca the only Rebol awailable to you?

Our browser has been based on KHTML for six or seven years - years
before Apple did it

LOL

Graham - it surely can't come with everything from the very beginning
:-)
Kaj

Come to the conference. I can bring you Autumn to listen :-)
Graham

[885x2]
I'm getting a status report!
conference is in Dutch?
Pekr
15-Jun-2007
[887]
Autumn to listen? Don't understand, sorry :-)
Kaj

[888]
I guess we'll speak English
Graham

[889]
takes advantage of multicore processors?
Kaj

Gathering, Autumn
Yes, SMP design from the beginning, and we fixed the implementation
last year
BeOS model

the 10 second boot is very appealing
if the other stuff is there too!
Kaj
15-Jun-2007
[895]
Yeah, it's like a carrot that is dangling just too far :-)
Pekr

[896]
MorphOS booting still faster though. Version 2.0 close to release.
Hopefully it has native tcp/ip stack at least now :-)
Kaj

[897]
Watch the announcement, though :-)
Pekr

[898]
hehe, Syllable ported to Efika PPC board :-)
Kaj
15-Jun-2007
[899]
Yes, Amiga tech is the only thing that is still faster. But outdated
tech and more stuff missing than in Syllable
Pekr

[900]
is Syllable multiuser? Not that I would strictly require that from
desktop os personally ....
Graham

[901]
make sure that the license says it can't be used by the military!
Kaj
15-Jun-2007
[902]
I dunno what crazy things the military wants
Graham
15-Jun-2007
[903]
I remember they used to have Amiga 3000s on war ships .. because
they rebooted faster than windows PCs
Kaj

[904x3]
There's a specific open-source license for that, but never heard
of it again
Open source only works if it's egalitarian
Multi-user: check (unlike Haiku)
Graham
15-Jun-2007
[907x2]
so, can 10 users be logged in to the same PC with their own video
cards,keyboards and mice?
simultaneously?
Kaj
15-Jun-2007
[909x2]
The army can use it if they want. I think it's our responsibility
to take the technology in our own hands and become a people's army
again
No, partly because we don't support multiple video cards yet
Graham
15-Jun-2007
[911x2]
oh .. no multiple monitors then either?
ie. dual head videocards
Kaj
15-Jun-2007
[913]
Not yet
Graham
15-Jun-2007
[914]
open office?
Pekr
15-Jun-2007
[915]
Graham - you are pushing too hard :-) Those questions will get Kaj
into depression. You surely don't want him becoming part of your
EMR system, right? :-)
Graham

[916]
just looking at the chess screenshot .. white is playing an unusual
opening
Pekr
15-Jun-2007
[917]
:-)
Graham

[918x2]
black's last move was e7-e5 which sacrifices a pawn for no good reason.
I think you need a better screenshot!

:)))
Graham

[921x2]
Pekr, an OS that boots in 10 seconds, has a fully functional scriptable
browser, printing, and rebol would be ideal for my EMR as a client
platforml.
Skype as well would be good.

Graham - what about some small linux distros? E.g. knoppix?

Kaj

[925x2]
Yeah, OOo is depressing
I'll relay the Chess complaint :-)
