Gregg 20-Mar-2006 [74] | Thanks Phil! Every time you post an update, I think to myself "I should really try to start using this thing." Then intertia pushes me along. :-( Someday....someday... |
Robert 21-Mar-2006 [75] | It's cool and definetly worth to have a look. |
yeksoon 21-Mar-2006 [76] | I noticed that there is a 'Spam' folder. Does Rebmail has built-in spam filtering? |
PhilB 21-Mar-2006 [77x2] | No built in Spam filtering .... sorry ..... You can setup rules to filter mail as it arrives, see the docs for more information. |
I find settiung my default inbox to "spam" and using rules to send any mail from my whitelist or my address book into my inbox.
PhilB 27-Apr-2006 [79] | rebmail 4.13.4 & associated helptext has been released (27/03/2006) ... Anton 27-Apr-2006 [80] | These are spelling mistakes in your release notice - "reabmail", "rebamail" aren't they ? |
PhilB 27-Apr-2006 [81] | hmmm .... yes ... rebmail & reabmail should say readmail |
Anton 27-Apr-2006 [82x2] | readmail - really ?! |
I think your fingers are doing the spelling for you.
PhilB 28-Apr-2006 [84] | Rebmail was a project setup to create a Rebol mail client. As far as I am aware, no code was ever written for it. Through some confussion, my email client got labelled as Rebmail ... the name of this Group being a good example .... (it was not created by me) .... so readmail.r and readmail are what all the documentation refers to ...... |
Ingo 28-Apr-2006 [85] | Hi Phil, that's not completely true. I, for example, am pretty sure that I still have a file with a REBOL [ file: %rebmail.r ;... ] header. I just didn't feel it worthy of widespread distribution ;-) |
[unknown: 9] 28-Apr-2006 [86] | Is Rebmail (er, I mean readmail) a command line thing, or a full GUI thing? |
Gregg 28-Apr-2006 [87] | GUI. |
PhilB 5-May-2006 [88] | readmail 4.13.7 & associated helptext has been released (05/05/2006) ... For detailed changes http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.ver readmail.r can be found at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.r readmail is also the following formats rip format at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.rip zip format at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.zip the archive containing rebmail.r & rebamail.html (rip = compressed self extracting rebol archive) Any problems let me know. |
Coccinelle 5-May-2006 [89] | Phil, when I use the "Check for Update" buton, their is no answer even if their is a new version. I believe that this is due to the first line of the readmail.ver file that is still Version: 4.12.6 Can you change this ? |
PhilB 5-May-2006 [90x2] | Hi Concielle .... done. I really should automate the process of updating so that this doesnt happen again. |
Hmmm .... seems like the update check is broken .... I will upload a new version later today.
PhilB 6-May-2006 [92x2] | readmail 4.13.8 & associated helptext has been released (06/05/2006) ... For detailed changes http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.ver readmail.r can be found at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.r readmail is also the following formats rip format at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.rip zip format at .... http://www.upnaway.com/~philb/philip/pbmail/readmail.zip the archive containing rebmail.r & rebamail.html (rip = compressed self extracting rebol archive) Any problems let me know. |

As an experiment, I have also started a readmail blog which may be found at http://rebol-readmail.blogspot.com/
Robert 23-Jul-2006 [99x2] | Cool! |
BTW: Take a look at SQLite from Ahsley as the backend. Very good and fast. And if you than implement the filter idea of Opera, I'm going to test it and see if it's an alternative.
Louis 4-Sep-2006 [101x2] | Can !Readmail be used from a usb port drive, so that I can download my email from many different computers without needing to install? |
Hope no one minds me putting this here rather than starting a new group. What does PTR mean in the following line: Remote host said: 554 This server requires PTR for unauthenticated connections.
PhilB 5-Sep-2006 [103x3] | Louis .... yes as long as the client computer has view installed, just copy readmal to the usb drive and it should run from there. |

This link talks about your error message
Louis 6-Sep-2006 [106] | Thanks, Phil. |
Louis 29-Oct-2006 [107] | Want list: 1. HTML support 2. Redirect 3. Return receipt 4. BCC (blind carbon copy) Any chance that you will be adding these features any time soon? |
Louis 30-Oct-2006 [108] | The electricity just went off here, and I got zapped. I've been answering email for the past 9 hours off line using the Eudora email client. I lost all of that work---none of my emails had been sent. That should not be possible. Every email should be written to the hard drive so it cannot be so easily lost. This is really hard to believe. Anyway, Phil, I am wanting to switch over to your software asap. |
Pekr 30-Oct-2006 [109] | what? Mozilla mailer, for ages, just by pressing save saves your email as an concept, to your HD of course. I can't believe any product would not do so. Maybe you just got corrupt indexes? I would delete them, and let Eudora to rebuild it (of course I know nothing about Eudora, so maybe it does not use indexes at all) |
Louis 30-Oct-2006 [110] | Pekr, I'll try deleting the indexes. |
Graham 30-Oct-2006 [111] | Eudora saves emails in files ... so it is unlikely that you have lost anything. |
Louis 30-Oct-2006 [112x4] | I'm going to log off and backup before I go any further with this. I'll report back. |
Ok, my email is there. BUT I'm using a version of Eudora that won't let me reindex my files. I have to pay to be able to do that, I think. I'm downloading the latest version of Eudora now. Hopefully, it won't make me pay.
The next version of Eudora is going to be free and open source....but it isn't there yet.
Thanks, Pekr and Graham for encouraging me to reindex.
Pekr 30-Oct-2006 [116] | I would simply try to move indexes out of their directory and start Eudora - it should start reindexing automatically, or so I think ... |
Louis 30-Oct-2006 [117x2] | I tried that, but it didn't work...I think because Eudora had added a paid feature called fast-search. |
I've been using a beta version and it is really buggy and incomplete.
Pekr 30-Oct-2006 [119] | uf, what is Eudora good for? Do you work on windows? I never wanted to work with anything else than Netscape and leter mozilla mail. You can try Thunderbird, you might be surprised by its functionality - and what is more - your folder is plain text file, readable |
Louis 30-Oct-2006 [120x2] | Yes, I have a WinXP machine. |
Could Thunderbird import my Eudora email? The corrupted Eudora indexes wouldn't matter in that case would it?
Pekr 30-Oct-2006 [122] | I think it could ... |
