I will always wave the flag that Rebol needs a killer app.

Investors? OK then - what Carl means by "rebol team" - does he mean
extended community support, like with View 1.3 project, or are Holger,
Jeff or anyone else coming on-board?

R, that's right. There was a time when Commodore was thinking about
porting Lotus 123. Personally, I think that strategy would have been
good.

i think R/T need's a change of context, the actual time and development
costs coud be reduced by some open code strategy just an idea ...

R There are several people here working with Rebol. The team is
growing, but specifics are not clear yet.

My company uses C#, C++ and VB. Nothing "open" And they are taught
that popular means good.

question for Carl. What does beyond View, IOS means?

Is it end of life support such that there will be a whole new range
of products from RT that will replace it (and hence ...$)
[unknown: 9]

[1559x3]

I think, in a way, we (the Rebol community), still believes the "a
small group of guys can make a big difference" mentality. The "world"
thinks that only a large company can compete.
Benjamin

[1566x2]
you'r right about that
still lots of cuestions become to mi mind, in todays market

20 years ago computing whas somthing different, now days things get
verry competitive

Reichart would know that, for example, that nowadays it seems to
take big bucks to make a game. Again, I believe that's a mindset.
Benjamin

[1571]
and dont forget propaganda !
james_nak
30-Sep-2005
[1572]
Yes, propaganda. MS has adopted the IBM "Nobody ever got fired for
buying IBM" tactic. Very successfully I might add.

[1577]
Services?
yeksoon
30-Sep-2005
[1578]
referring to LNS?
[unknown: 9]
30-Sep-2005
[1579x3]
It will support custom servers, and there will be a public server
that everyone can use to search for Reb Services. For example, if
someone offers a service like World Time, then you can search for
this, and then start using this service.
Reb services.
Since I may have missed something, what is LNS?
yeksoon
30-Sep-2005
[1582x2]
Lightweight Network Services , IIRC
RT's product for RebServices
[unknown: 9]
30-Sep-2005
[1584x4]
Ok.
Last chance for any direct questions of Gab?
I should mention, Gab wrote this, and Rchard and Gab have been working
with Rebol on a contract basis.
For specific focused features.

haha, one other person, who does not actually remember what the abbreviation
means :-) Maybe a good signal to change it. Most of us will refer
to it as a rebservices anyway :-)
Q: will async kernel be back?
[unknown: 9]
30-Sep-2005
[1590x4]
On sec.
Carl's goal was to move it over, but things got mixed up. Some
people had problems building handlers, since there is not critical
management section. So inside an asynch hander yo uput a print command,
and it gets changed by other parts of the system. So it made it
too complex.
So for now the solution is to bring it back...even soon, but he wants
to solve these things first.
He is going to open to talk with everyone.
Pekr
30-Sep-2005
[1594]
OK, thanks ... when adding async back, we might actually add some
thread or tasking support :-)
Benjamin
30-Sep-2005
[1595]
but that may open the door for other developers and aplications }
Pekr

Yes, we need to have a SIG group here to really review this.
But he wants it back also.
