Gabriele

[559]
and, do we have a mac that is fast enough?
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[560]
isn't it more critical with how many users connect?
DideC

[561]
Good sound
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[562]
yes, the cars outside are coming through clealy :-)
Gabriele

[563]
users connect to a server that does relay. maybe we can have surfnet
doing relay for us, otherwise we have my server in texas (the one
you're seeing now)

[564]
No picture with quicktime nor VLC !!!
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[565]
so, if it's like last year with 5 people watching the live stream,
number of users is probably the least of our worries. :)

[566]
This codec is not the right one.
Gabriele

this one is h.264, requires QT7 and not sure if works with any version
of VLC
henrik, can you see the video?
do you think it is better than the earlier one?
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[570]
yes, I see it, but isn't this h.261?
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[571x2]
no, now it's 264. (check movie info)
i can switch to 261 so you can see the difference. should i?
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[573]
sorry, yes, correct. looks fairly well. yes, please try to switch
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[574]
ok.
DideC

[575]
I will try last VLC player...
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[576]
261 now.
Henrik

[577x2]
lower framerate, but the picture looks a bit clearer sometimes. there
is less stability in the image though
movement doesn't look as good
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[579]
i tried lowering the frame rate too. but it doesn't help.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[580]
eats about 5% less cpu than h.264 on my mini
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[581]
But I see womething now :))
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[582]
i think 264 is much less sensitive to packet loss.
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[583]
Quality is good.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[584]
yes, I noticed no dropouts in h.264. I have seen 2-3 dropouts in
h.261 so far
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[585]
now the question is: is it worth to ask people to download QT 7?
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[586]
funny that QT7 can't measure the bandwidth on h.264, only on 261
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[587x2]
keep in mind that i will still record everything on tape and encode
that later (maybe mpeg4, 2-pass encoding)
so this is only for the live stream.
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[589]
Give me an URL for QT7 on Win32!!
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[590x3]
let me check
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/preview/
battery is discharging on the camera. need to attach it to power
line.

[593]
Last VLC is unable to show me video : the window blinks and resizes
continuasly.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[594]
I think it's important to get it working in VLC for the linux users,
h.264 or not...
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[595]
Lost.
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[596]
trying 264 with 12 fps.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[597]
image is very fuzzy and takes long to redraw
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[598]
Last VLC: no video.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[599]
artifacts everywhere
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[600]
did you restart it?
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[601]
do you use Qtbrodcast and StreamingServer ?
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[602x2]
yes.
i'm going to try out other solutions too. this one works very well
though.
Henrik
6-Aug-2005
[604]
restarted it twice, but there are many dropouts
DideC
6-Aug-2005
[605]
Installing QT7...
Gabriele
6-Aug-2005
[606]
i think the result would be much better with a server here in europe.
Henrik

[607x2]
it probably goes through many nodes... sometimes you get a good connection,
other times bad.
I heard a car horn honking 10 seconds ago. what's the delay?
