Yes, Jobs asked the music industry to remove DRM, and yet won't himself
even when requested to do so by the artists.

It wouldn't recognise my dvd drive or something. So, maybe i need
to install from ISO image.
Does anyone find it annoying that if you click and press by mistake,
this icon menu appears in front of you?
( me = heavy handed )

BrianH, artists? you mean the record companies? I doubt the artists
have much to say about this.

removing DRM would be a big plus for Apple vs MS

often without the intention on my part, these icons fly in from outer
screen and cover my main windown
I have to click on the working application to make them go away

Graham

you can do that in system preferences

If an artist or label wants to sell music on iTunes with no DRM,
Apple won't do it. There are documented cases for this, for which
I am too lazy to provide a link.

Ok, that sounds like something I should do ...

BrianH, it might be a contractual issue. I'd bet that those contracts
are rather hairy.

VLC keeps crashing with an error requester if I keep using the remote
to pause the movie .. to explain to my daughter some esoteric medical
thing ..!
At least Safari seems stable ... not like Firefox on Windows

VLC under OSX is unfortunately very unstable. it's annoying.

graham, since v1.5 firefox has never crashed for me, when it used
to crash about 5 times a day beforehand. v2 seems even better.

hehe... v2 seems to have less "issues" which are not related to crashes...
refresh bugs and things like that :-)

Henrik - what is etoile?

it's a kind of a desktop... it claims to want to change the way one
works with applications and documents. I haven't figured out how
this works yet. The reason I'm interested in it is that it's GNUstep
based.

Oldes, I have a commercial app online and its one of the most advanced
scripts I've ever written. it does web-service access in the bg
doing sync of ui with a remote app (much like altme) , in the same
time it crawls the net, does searching and allows you to download
actual content when you ask for it... all simultaneously and using
glayout too...
as many have said before... R2 and current plugin are great tools.
why are you keeping from using them?

... and we were SO close. Josh had it solved, then he announced Carl
redirected him to something else, then he was about to post some
security related doc - that never happened.

well that's not just the plugin then.

I agree that the no 1 problem of RT is not the technology... it the
management of priorites and schedules and stuff like that.
hum... starting to make me thing of another great technology which
had the same issues... yet was 10 years in advance ;-)
just like REBOL
(amiga anyone)
at least we know the reasons are not the same and that RT itself
is good willed.
just need more indians ... but not enough food to feed them I guess.

Microsoft has given a go-to-market name for its cross-platform, cross-browser
plug-in for delivering the next generation of user experiences and
rich Internet applications for the Web. The technology formerly known
as WPF/E is now known as Silverlight - http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,2114418,00.asp

aware of yet ;-)

then let's hope some of View issues are adressed (keyboard, make
events (Gabriele confirmed this one), refresh rate, rich text, etc.)
