Jerry 15-Sep-2007 [2610] | We probably should make a commercials like this. Hello I REBOL "and I am Ruby" ... Making funny video is one of the good ways to get noticed. |
Robert 15-Sep-2007 [2611x2] | Graham, cool thing. I'm seeking for something like this being based on Debian. |
Anyone know if this exists?
Graham 15-Sep-2007 [2613x2] | I got classified as a bot when I tried the asirra test :( |
Interestingly they plan to use geolocation services to show animals that are close to you in case you get tempted and want to adopt one of the animals.
Terry 15-Sep-2007 [2615] | Hello, I'm Rebol .... "and I'm .. er sorry, who did you say you are?" |
btiffin 15-Sep-2007 [2616] | Robert, not sure if you want a Virtual Debian or a Host Debian, but check this small page. Note: I've not tried any virtualization myself. Live dangerously and practice unprotected computing. :) http://linux.simple.be/vmware/More deets at http://www.howtoforge.com/debian_etch_vmware_server_howto and finally as a appliance http://www.visoracle.com/download/debian/ |
Robert 16-Sep-2007 [2617] | Thanks for the links. |
btiffin 17-Sep-2007 [2618] | So it seems North Americans have to rely on Europe to reign in Microsoft. Thanks Europe, well done. http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/archives/121933.asp?from=blog_last3 |
Robert 17-Sep-2007 [2619x3] | A new kind to streamline public finances... |
But I too think they are right.
they = the EU | |
btiffin 17-Sep-2007 [2622] | Yep, I hope this ruling puts the kibosh on the possiblity of hardware manufacturers being forced to sign non-disclosure agreements if they want drivers to function on Windows with DRM. GNU/Linux would quickly start to lose out if that happens en masse. Today is a good news day in my biased and perhaps naive opinion. |
[unknown: 10] 18-Sep-2007 [2623] | http://www.ajaxwindows.com/for those missing windows on a browser... |
btiffin 18-Sep-2007 [2624] | IBM offers up Lotus Symphony http://symphony.lotus.com/software/lotus/symphony/home.jspa |
Graham 18-Sep-2007 [2625] | Actually it's OpenOffice - IBM's version |
btiffin 18-Sep-2007 [2626] | I wondered...so that's what they get for donating 35 coders... a little bit of press and some branding. :) |
Jerry 18-Sep-2007 [2627] | I downloaded IBM Lotus Symphony yesterday, I am using it now. So far, I don't like it. |
Davide 19-Sep-2007 [2628] | Great ajax grid http://www.turboajax.com/products/turbogrid/index.html |
Henrik 19-Sep-2007 [2629] | jerry, just from the screenshots, it does not look particularly impressive. |
Jerry 19-Sep-2007 [2630] | Henrik, you're right. And not just that, the performance is not good, because of Java. The download size is 150MB, and the installation size is 300+ MB. Why does IBM make everything dull and huge? We should make an Rebol Office, I mean it. After REBOL/View system has been improved in R3, this is not impossible. |
PatrickP61 19-Sep-2007 [2631] | This seems interesting... Lina Software released the source code for LINA under the GPL v2. LINA enables Linux binaries to run with native look and feel on Windows, Mac, and Linux, without recompiling. http://openlina.org/news.html |
Pekr 22-Sep-2007 [2632] | Interesting comparison of Open Office Writer and Microsoft Word 2007 - http://www.linux.com/feature/118986 I thought Writer couldn't be compared to Word, but now I try to download Open Office to judge myself .... |
Henrik 22-Sep-2007 [2633] | http://unicap-imaging.org/unicap_eeepc.htm<--- this looks like a nice and interesting machine. |

Henrik 24-Sep-2007 [2635] | http://blog.palm.com/palm/2007/09/a-message-to-pa.html<-- seems the Palm Foleo has been cancelled. |
Graham 24-Sep-2007 [2636] | turning cars into network nodes http://www.vehicularlab.org/ |
[unknown: 10] 27-Sep-2007 [2637] | after windowsajax here is X-desktop -> http://www.x-desktop.org/ |
Terry 28-Sep-2007 [2638] | WebRunner - WebRunner is a simple XULRunner based browser that hosts web applications without the normal web browser user interface. WebRunner is based on a concept called Site Specific Browsers (SSB). An SSB is an application with an embedded browser designed to work exclusively with a single web application. http://wiki.mozilla.org/WebRunner |
Pekr 5-Oct-2007 [2639x2] | OLPC - http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/technology/circuits/04pogue.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin |
Nice article. REBOL would fit in, teaching children VID :-)
Gabriele 5-Oct-2007 [2641] | it's not open source |
Louis 6-Oct-2007 [2642] | Free computer books: http://www.onlinecomputerbooks.com/free-xml-books.php |
btiffin 9-Oct-2007 [2643] | Concentrate...use the force. http://technology.canoe.ca/Innovations/2007/04/30/4142020-ap.html Light sabre stays lit if you focus your mind. |
Sunanda 10-Oct-2007 [2644] | A bare metal Linux box that boots up key apps [email, browser] in seconds: http://www.splashtop.com/index.php Just what the average home user needs :-) |
Henrik 10-Oct-2007 [2645] | finally |
Pekr 18-Oct-2007 [2646] | new site of Qtask - http://www.qtask.com/index.php- congratulation! |
Terry 18-Oct-2007 [2647x2] | And it only costs user.r members $75 / month. |
... each | |
Maarten 18-Oct-2007 [2649] | Thta's a bargain at the current euro-$ exchange rate ;-) |
Pekr 18-Oct-2007 [2650] | :-) |
amacleod 18-Oct-2007 [2651] | Pekr, Where is rebol in this product? Is it in form of CGI, RSP ? |
Pekr 18-Oct-2007 [2652x2] | whole backend is said being coded in rebol ... |
http://www.qtask.com/industry/faq.php
amacleod 18-Oct-2007 [2654] | So the interface is all html and java script (traditional tools, AJAX too) and rebol is used on the server. |
james_nak 18-Oct-2007 [2655] | That's an impressive list of services as well. |
btiffin 18-Oct-2007 [2656] | Terry; I'm not sure of future plans, but no. user.r was gifted the space and invites to members will remain at zero cost (until I'm told otherwise - again I'm not in on their business planning. The offer from Qtask was a gift). So it's more like membership with user.r on Qtask is like getting a $75 a month bonus. As a matter of fact, I want to move the current user.r Chat PITL project to Qtask sometime this weekend. You can't beat Qtask for project management. And being the friendly fence sitter...you can't really beat kommonwealth for the 'fun social side' that user.r should also portrait. Both sites are suffering neglect right now, but that will change. |
amacleod 18-Oct-2007 [2657x2] | hyuyuguy fffffffffffffffffffffffffffddddddddddseQ\\\\\\ |
