[REBOL] Indexing the Mailing List -- an update
From: SunandaDH:aol at: 12-Jun-2006 4:27
About two years back there were some messages on the ML about producing an
index of the Mailing List

As I think we all realise by now from experience with RT, just because
things go quiet on a REBOL-related subject doesn't mean nothing is happening.
The Tag Team is proud to announce the completion of the first stage of the
Tagging!!!
****
Every thread on the ML archive has been eyeballed by hand (and / or some
semi-automated tools) and many threads have been tagged as to their "purpose" /
semantic content
(whatevs).
Those tags enable us to publish the Topic index....
http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/ml-topic-index.r
which is a structured way of browsing the ML archive.
Along with the other indexes (by date, author, subject) and the full-word
search, this helps turn the ML archive from a 75-meg pile of words into a rich
resource.

Note also when you are viewing a thread, you may see a navigation bar that
offers you related messages, eg the "see also" on this sample message:
http://www.rebol.org/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rebol/ml-display-thread.r?m=rmlDVDK
***
You can also use the tag groupings to refer people to collections of threads
on a specific subject, eg:
For more discussions on favorite text editors, see:

***
Much praise is due to the main tag team members for quietly chugging along
and adding the tags: Christian Ensel who pioneered the effort, and then Peter
Wood who stepped in and did nearly 50% of the total.

There's sill work to be done -- mainly reviewing the indexes for consistency.
And there are still seats on the Tag Team if anyone has a few moments to
lend a hand.
