[ALLY] AmigaOS View 0.10.38: 'Browse doesn't always work as exspected .
[1/5] from: jean::holzammer::faedv-n::bayern::de at: 2-Nov-2000 8:27
Hi,
Yesterday I installed view .38 for AmigaOS. First I tried, if the browse
function does work in the new version.
I browsed to a local file:// . View opened the default web browser.
Then I browsed another file. View loaded this one into the already running
browser. Fine.
Then I quit the web browser.
I tried to browse yet another file and exspected view to launch the browser
again. But it didn't ?
Did this occur to any of you , too ? Maybe a bug in view ? Maybe just a
configuration problem on my system ?
Ciao, Jean.

Jean,
I've seen some anomalies while using OpenURL on my Amiga at home. View on
Amiga uses OpenURL to access your browser.
I've noticed the anomalies when using YAMv2.1 with different browsers set
as the default. IIRC, Ibrowse was set as the default browser when I
encountered most of the problems.
However, if you can track it down to being a problem with View and not
OpenURL, please let us know!

On my system at home, REBOL happily launches AWeb if it isn't already running
or opens a new window in AWeb if it is.
Check your OpenURL prefs and make sure you select the option that states
something like "start browser if not already running".
Have fun!

I've not been able to get it to start and use a browser that's not
already running, but if IBrowse, Voyager or AWeb are already running
it'll happily send the webpage to them. No doubt there's a way to
make REBOL start a default browser - I just don't know what it is.
An addition to user.r perhaps? Then again, perhaps it requires
'launch, and so is only available in Command?

I tried it again yesterday and now browse works as expected . So it was not
a problem with View !!
Don't know what the real reason was, maybe a temporarely lack of memory ?
BTW, OpenURL always worked as it should when used with yam on my system.
Maybe it has to do with the way it is embedded in yam at your system. I
installed Hurl to do so.
